Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi Appointed Deputy Leader Of House In Rajya Sabha

Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was appointed the Deputy Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha on Monday.

In this regard the directions was issued by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Naqvi succeeds Piyush Goyal, who has been named Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha.

Naqvi who hails from Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur has served as minister of state for parliamentary affairs during the first term of the Modi government. He is the only Muslim face in the Cabinet.

Naqvi was elected to the Upper House from Jharkhand. He joined the BJP in 1986 as a student leader and was MoS for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.

His appointment comes at a time when the government is facing tough questions from the Opposition on various issues.
