Olympic Star Lovlina Borgohain to become DSP in Assam Police

Olympic star Lovlina Borgohain will be appointed as DSP in Assam Police as the state cabinet agreed on Thursday.

“Lovlina will be appointed as DSP on ‘probation’, state minister Ranoj Pegu mentioned to the reporters after the cabinet meeting.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had announced that the government would appoint Lovlina as DSP in Assam Police on August 12, during a felicitation ceremony.

Lovlina Borgohain became the third Indian boxer after Mary Kom and Vijender Singh to bag a Bronze medal at the quadrennial event.

Pegu also said Lovlina’s ‘probationer’ post will be regularized after the completion of her ‘probation’ period.

The cabinet has decided to provide at least two pairs of uniforms and other required items to all forest personnel starting from forest guards to deputy rangers.

The cabinet also gave nod for providing an incentive of Rs 2,000 to all front line health workers.

Around 10,854 Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM), 9,420 verifiers, 32,700 Asha workers and 200 Support Staffs shall be receiving the amount for their diligent service during the COVID-19 pandemic in the state, Pegu said.
