Dr Jakia Rashid Shafir a gynaecologist at Tangail General Hospital has died of Covid-19 even after receiving both doses of vaccine.
According to reports, Dr Jakia who lived in the town’s East Adalatpara area, breathed her last while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.
Quoting Tangail General Hospital Resident Medical Officer Dr Shafiqul Islam Sajib Dhaka Tribune reported that Dr Jakia had tested Covid-19 positive a week ago and was admitted to CMH.
She was put on life support after her condition deteriorated on Sunday. She passed away on Monday night, he added.
Dr Jakia was the wife of Brigadier Mizanur of the Bangladesh Army medical corps. So far, two doctors have died in the district.
