Bangladesh's legendary folk singer Fakir Alamgir has died due to complications from COVID-19. He was 71. According to Dhaka Tribune, the singer breathed his last at the United Hospital on Friday night and was laid to rest with state honours at Khilgaon's Taltola Graveyard. His son Mashuque Alamgir Rajeeb said that Alamgir suffered a cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment at the hospital. The veteran singer tested positive for the coronavirus after suffering from fever and cough for several days. After he complained of breathing issues, Alamgir was admitted to a local hospital. A California man who mocked Covid-19 vaccines on social media has died after a month-long battle with the virus. According to reports, Stephen Harmon, 34, died on Wednesday at Corona Regional Medical Center, about an hour east of Los Angeles. Prior to his hospitalization, Harmon shared a series of jokes on social media about vaccines. “I got 99 problems but a vax ain’t one,” he wrote in June on Twitter. Urdu writer and Calligraphy expert M.A. Momin passed away in Hubballi on June 27 following COVID-19 related complications. He was 72. Momin -- a recipient of the Karnataka Urdu Academy award – was renowned for his Nizamat or anchoring Urdu Shayari sessions across North Karnataka districts. Besides frequently organizing Urdu learning training courses for non-native Urdu speakers, Momin used to also conduct calligraphy training sessions for school and college students.
