Dr Hu Weifeng, urologist

  Dr Hu Weifeng ‑ an urologist who was treating patients at the Wuhan Central Hospital where Covid-19 was originally identified ‑ passed away on 2 June 2020 after a four-month fight with Covid-19. He made headlines in March, when his skin turned black "due to liver dysfunction" during his treatment. The exact cause of his death has not been made public but the news has triggered an outpouring of anger on Chinese social media sites. He tested positive for the virus in January, during the early stages of the Chinese outbreak, and was transferred to different hospitals for treatment the following two months. His condition initially improved in mid-March; however, he then suffered cerebral haemorrhages in late April and May. BBC

Yu Lihua a Chinese-American writer who authored at least 45 works of fiction died on On 1 May 2020 due to COVID-19 in Washington. Yu Lihua was born in Shanghai and went to university in Taiwan, taking history at National Taiwan University. Then she went to the United States to do a graduate degree in journalism at UCLA and then to teach Chinese literature in the Department of Comparative University at the State University of New York. Her work was published both in English and in Chinese.

Ho Kam Ming –a Macanese-born Canadian martial artist who was one of the students of martial arts teacher Ip Man in the discipline of Wing Chun – passed away on 9 April 2020 due to Covid-19.   Ho was born in Macau in 1925. When he was 30, he started learning Wing Chun and became Ip Man's formal student. In Ip Ching's memoirs My Father Ip Man, Ho was described as one of Ip Man's "excellent disciples". Liu Zhiming, director of Wuhan Wuchang Hospital, died of the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, on Tuesday morning, Feb. 18, The Associated Press citing the Wuhan Municipal Health Commission reported.   A notice from the commission said Liu took part in the battle against the deadly virus from the start and made “important contributions in the work of fighting and controlling novel coronavirus.”   During that process, “unfortunately he became infected and passed away at 10:54 Tuesday morning at the age of 51 after all-out efforts to save him failed,” the notice said.
