Tamonash Ghosh, India’s Trinamool Congress legislator, passed away on June 24, 2020, due to Covi-19-related complications.
Ghosh, who tested positive for COVID-19, was undergoing treatment at a private health facility in Kolkata. The 60-year-old three-time MLA is survived by wife and two daughters.
Mr. Ghosh represented Falta Assembly constituency in South 24 Parganas district in West Bengal.
“Very, very sad. Tamonash Ghosh, three-time MLA from Falta & party treasurer since 1998 had to leave us today. Been with us for over 35 years, he was dedicated to the cause of the people & party. He contributed much through his social work,” Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said.
Ms Banerjee took to Twitter to express her condolences and said that the party leader “has left a void that will be difficult to fill”.
Mr. Ghosh is the first elected public representative in the State to succumb to the contagious viral infection.
