Marielle De Bruhl, Nurse

Marielle De Bruhl – a Nurse at Karolinska Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden- passed away after suffering from COVID-19. It was reported on 29 April, 2020. Marielle was 39 years old.

Marielle DeBruhl previously worked as a hairdresser but chose a few years ago to retrain and educate as a nurse.

After the coronavirus outbreak in Sweden, she cared for infected patients at Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge.

She thought life was great now. She was a charming person who loved her job, her colleagues and really felt that she could contribute and do something important for others, says her friend Margareta Hedin.

Last week she tested positive for covid-19 and after a rapid illness she passed away in her home at 39 years old.

Ewa Börjesson, Head of Operations at Tema Inflammation and Infection at Karolinska University Hospital, has previously commented on the death: “It is with sadness we can confirm that a nurse employee at Karolinska University Hospital who was covid-positive has died. We provide a valued and skilled colleague and our thoughts go to the nurse's relatives. The nurse was on sick leave for her covid-19 symptoms and died at home."
