Fernando Sandoval, Olympic water polo player

Fernando Sandoval a Brazilian water polo player who competed in the men’s tournament at the 1968 Summer Olympics died on May 1, 2020, after suffering from coronavirus in São Paulo. He was 78.

Fernando Sandoval was born in the capital of São Paulo, on November 18, 1942. He began his career in swimming pools before moving to water polo, a sport that won him over, at the age of 16.

In 1967, at the age of 25, he won the silver medal at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada. A year later, Fernando Sandoval had the honor of being part of the Brazil team that finished 13th in the Olympic Games in Mexico.
