Former Auburn linebacker Craig Ogletree, who also had a brief stop in the NFL, died Monday from complications of COVID-19. He was 53. Ogletree played four seasons with the Tigers and was co-captain of the 1989 team that won the Southeastern Conference championship. “Great linebacker, great leader,” said his college roommate, fellow linebacker Quentin Riggins. “He’d make play after play. What most people don’t know is that he was also an excellent student, a brilliant person. Great dad and husband. We just clicked. He was a very special person.” His best year with Auburn came in 1989 when he had 11 sacks and 113 tackles. That was the third of three straight conference titles the Tigers won. Former Kazakhstan ice hockey player Yevgeni Pupkov, who represented his country at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games, has died at the age of 45 from coronavirus. Pupkov, who played in defence, represented Kazakhstan at Turin 2006, as well as at the same year’s Ice Hockey World Championship in Riga, Latvia. At both events the country did not progress past the initial group stage phase. Pupkov was appointed assistant coach of Kazakhstan ice hockey team HK Almaty three weeks ago and in a statement, the club said: "There is grief in our hockey family. "We express deep condolences to his family and friends." Pupkov played 525 games in Russia’s top division, the Superliga, which after folding was reorganised as the Kontinental Hockey League in 2008. Milkha Singh, Indian sprint legend

Indian sprint legend Milkha Singh passed away on June 18 after a month-long battle with COVID-19. He was 91. Singh, who is survived by his golfer son Jeev Milkha Singh and three daughters, died at 11.30 p.m, a family spokesperson told media.  The Padma Shri awardee had recently lost his wife -- former national volleyball captain Nirmal Kaur (85) -- to the dreaded coronavirus, when she passed away at a private hospital in Mohali. The athlete had contracted COVID-19 in May but was tested negative on May 16 before being shifted to general ICU in a hospital.
