Mufti Muhammad Naeem, cleric

Mufti Muhammad Naeem ‑ a Pakistani cleric and Islamic scholar who served as Chancellor of Jamia Binoria – passed away on 20 June 2020 due to Covid-19 complications. His paternal family came from Surat in Indian Gujarat. His grandfather was born a Parsi who adopted Islam. Naeem was born in 1958. He co-founded the Deobandi seminary Jamia Binoria. He was executive member of Wifaq ul Madaris Al-Arabia, Pakistan. He died in Karachi on 20 June 2020 because of a heart attack. However Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah revealed in a speech at Sindh Assembly that Mufti Naeem, Talib Jauhri and Munawar Hasan, all the three clerics died past week were due to Covid-19. PK Muhammad, a Kannur Iritty native, died on June 10, 2020, after battling with coronavirus. He was under treatment for cancer. The 70-year-old was tested positive for COVID-19 on June 10 and shifted to the hospital. Following this, he breathed his last at the hospital. Muhammad returned from Muscat via Kannur airport on May 22. Though the health workers directed him to observe quarantine at the hospital, he refused to follow it and went to his son’s house at Koothuparamaba. Sardar Dur Muhammad Nasir ‑ a Pakistani politician who was a member of the Provincial Assembly of Balochistan from May 2013 to May 2018 died on 8 June 2020 due to Covid-19. He was born on 15 September 1958 in Duki District, Pakistan. He did Matriculation. He was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Balochistan as a candidate of Pakistan Muslim League (N) from Constituency PB-14 Loralai-I in 2013 Pakistani general election. After Nasir contracted the coronavirus, he isolated himself at his residence in Duki. He was later shifted to a hospital in Karachi when his condition deteriorated, where he died on 8 June.

Muhammad Sirajul Islam, politician

Md. Sirajul Islam, a Bangladesh Awami League politician, succumbed to COVID-19 virus on 4 April,2020. He was elected a member of parliament from Undivided Sylhet-12 (present Maulvibazar-1) in 1973 and 1979. He was the organizer of the Liberation War of Bangladesh. Sirajul Islam was born in 1943 in Barlekha Upazila of Moulvibazar District. Sirajul Islam was elected to parliament from Undivided Sylhet-12(present Maulvibazar-1) as a Bangladesh Awami League candidate in 1973 and 1979. Sirajul Islam died on 4 April,2020, undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at Elmhurst Hospital Center in  Queens, New York City.
