Thomas Moore, school principal

Thomas Moore, the former longtime principal of Perry Middle School, died on July 6, 2020, after a battle with COVID-19. Moore retired at the end of the 2016-17 school year after more than a decade as principal at the middle school. But for a generation of kids and parents, he was simply "Coach." He coached football, basketball, and baseball. Prior to serving in the school’s administration, Moore got his career start in 1986 as a teacher and football coach in Jones County. He was at Jones County High for three years before going to R.E. Institute in Upson County for seven years. Matthew Moore – a Radiologic Technologist at GoHealth Urgent Care, Staten Island, New York – passed away on 17 April 2020 after suffering from COVID-19. Moore was 52 years old. Matty was born on October 29, 1967 and spent his childhood making memories living first on Foster Road and then he moved in 1977 to his residence on Amboy Road. Matty was a parishioner of St. Joseph- St. Thomas Parish where he attended grammar school and was an altar server. He attended St. Joseph High School in Metuchen, N.J., where he played soccer and received several awards for track. Nola Mae Moore – a Physician in Shoreline, Washington – passed away on 17 April 2020 after suffering from COVID-19. Nola was 88 years old. Nola had polio when she was 8. This resulted in a long hospital stay and, because her dominant left hand was paralyzed, Nola, never short on grit, taught herself to write with the right-with a very distinctive lefty slant. She remained semi-ambidextrous the rest of her life, which would later make her an excellent set of hands in surgery. Unfortunately, it would not be her last long childhood hospital stay. When she was 12, she and Duane developed a homemade pair of wings and eagerly climbed to the top of a nearby windmill.
