Md Lokman Hossain Mridham – the Faridpur district council chairman and Awami League district unit vice-president ‑ died from the new coronavirus at a Dhaka hospital in the morning of July 10, 2020. He was 77. Lokman, also a veteran freedom fighter, breathed his last at 11am at Sheikh Russel Gastroliver Institute & Hospital in Mohakhali while undergoing treatment there, said Faridpur Deputy Commissioner Atul Sarkar. Hossain was admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital on June 22 and had tested positive for coronavirus the next day, said his personal secretary Rezaul Karim Mithu. Makbul Hossain ‑ a businessman, Bangladesh Awami League politician who served as a Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Dhaka-9 constituency ‑ died on 24 May 2020 undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at Combined Military Hospital.   Hossain was born c. 1950 in Bikrampur. He earned his MA and LLB degrees from the University of Dhaka.   Hossain was a member of Advisory Council of Bangladesh Awami League. He was elected to parliament from Dhaka-9 as a Bangladesh Awami League candidate in June 1996.
