Rev Dr Jacob Mar Barnabas, metropolitan of Gurgaon-Delhi diocese of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, passed away in Delhi on Thursday. He was 60. The metropolitan was under treatment for post-Covid illnesses for the past four months. Dr Jacob Mar Barnabas was born on December 3, 1960, to Geevarghese and Rachel of Aerath family at Ranni in Pathanamthitta. After his schooling, he joined the Order of the Imitation of Christ in 1975. Bishop Eugenio Scarpellini of El Alto, Bolivia, died on July 15, 2020, after contracting COVID-19. He was 66. The Italian-born bishop was remembered by colleagues as a tireless promoter of missions, who worked to improve relations with the government and intervened to defuse tensions in 2019 after protests over election irregularities rocked the South American country. Scarpellini was hospitalized in El Alto — situated at an elevation of more than 13,000 feet next to the capital, La Paz — but on July 15, he twice suffered "cardiac arrest, and the doctors were unable to do anything." Elisha Juma, the Kenya Assemblies of God (KAG) Tudor bishop, died from Covid-19 on June 29 at Mombasa Hospital. His death came barely three months after the cleric’s eldest son died of the same disease in the US.  The family said he had been admitted to the hospital for some time over high blood pressure and diabetes. The family was still coming to terms with the death of the bishop’s son Peter Juma, 35, who died in the United States on March 28. He was the Auxiliary Bishop emeritus of the Archdiocese of Liverpool ‑ died on 18 May 2020 at the Royal Liverpool Hospital, after testing positive for COVID-19.   Malone was born in Liverpool, and was ordained to the priesthood on 18 September 1955, in Old Swan. He served as titular bishop of Maturba and auxiliary bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Meru, Kenya, in 1975 and 1976. Njiru then served as bishop of the Meru Diocese from 1976 to 2004. Njiru died on 28 April 2020 in Rivoli, Piedmont, Italy from COVID-19.

Gérard Mulumba Kalemba ‑ a Congolese prelate of the Catholic Church – died on 15 April 2020 due to COVID-19 in Kinshasa. He was 82.   Born in Kananga, Mulumba Kalemba was ordained to the priesthood in 1967. He was appointed bishop of Mweka in 1989, serving until his retirement in 2017. His brother, Étienne Tshisekedi, and nephew, Félix Tshisekedi, both served as President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.   On 15 April 2020, during the DR Congo coronavirus pandemic, Mulumba Kalemba died due to COVID-19 in Kinshasa.
