Debdatta Roy, the Deputy Magistrate at Chandannagar in Hooghly district of the Indian state of West Bengal – died on July 13, 2020 from Covid-19 complications. The 33-year-old was admitted to Shramojibi Covid hospital in Sreerampur on July 12, 2020 evening. She died on July 13, 2020 morning, a first senior officer of Bengal government to have succumbed to the virus, media reports said. Dr Jahan Iqbal Ahmed, a doctor at the Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) in the Indian state of Assam reportedly died of COVID-19 on July 12, 2020. Sources said Dr Jahan Iqbal Ahmed, who is an associate professor of Ophthalmology at GMCH, succumbed to the disease on Monday.
