Pauldurai, policeman

Pauldurai, a special sub-inspector of police in Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukudi district and one of the 10 police personnel arrested in the custodial deaths of a father-son duo, died of Covid-19 in Madurai in the early hours of August 10, 2020, reported ANI. Pauldurai was admitted to the Government Rajaji Hospital on July 24 after he tested positive for the coronavirus. He had contracted the infection during his stay at the Madurai Central Prison. The 56-year-old police officer had “uncontrolled diabetes”, reported The Hindu. On Friday, Pauldurai’s wife had complained that the health condition of her husband was deteriorating. Nadjmi Adhani, the mayor of Banjarbaru city in South Kalimantan, passed away on August 10, 2020, after being hospitalized for two weeks for COVID-19. Banjarbaru Disaster Mitigation Agency head Zaini Syahranie said Nadjmi passed away at Ulin Regional General Hospital in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. "Pak Nadji Adhani passed away at 2:30 a.m.," Zaini said in a written statement on Monday as reported by kompas.com. Nadjmi announced through an Instagram post in late July that he and his wife had tested positive for COVID-19. Nadjmi was hospitalized after the announcement. Dr Mir, a resident of Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, passed away in the morning on August 9, 2020, at SKIMS Soura, they said. Mir had been treating COVID-19 patients for the past four months and in the process, contracted the virus. The doctor tested positive for COVID-19 and was admitted to the hospital with bilateral pneumonia.
