Couple with post-Covid complications dies by suicide

A newly married couple died by suicide in their Worli flat by drinking some poisonous substance. Quoting police newspaper The Hindu reported that they left behind a note stating that they were taking the extreme step as they were suffering from post-Covid complications and were having trouble living a normal life. Ajay Kumar (34) and Suja S (30) had got married 10 months ago and was living in the flat on rent at Bharat Mills society. Suja’s mother, who stays in Kerala, was trying to reach her but she did not answer the calls. So, the mother asked her colleague to check on her. Urdu writer and Calligraphy expert M.A. Momin passed away in Hubballi on June 27 following COVID-19 related complications. He was 72. Momin -- a recipient of the Karnataka Urdu Academy award – was renowned for his Nizamat or anchoring Urdu Shayari sessions across North Karnataka districts.  Besides frequently organizing Urdu learning training courses for non-native Urdu speakers, Momin used to also conduct calligraphy training sessions for school and college students.  He was also an active member of Idara Farogh-e-Urdu Hubli, a literary organisation.

Vandana Mishra, chairperson of women’s wing in the local chapter of the Indian Industries Association, died of Covid-19 complications while being stuck in traffic in Kanpur on June 25. She was 50. The incident occurred when the local police set up many diversions across the city for movement of President Ram Nath Kovind’s convoy.  Mishra had complained of nausea and vomiting and was going to a private hospital when she got stuck in traffic between the Nand Lal intersection and Govindpuri fly.
