
Igor Goncharov – a Professor at Head of Department, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation (1996), Institute of Biomedical Problems, Moscow, Russia – passed away on 24 April, 2020, after suffering from COVID-19. Igor was 81 years old.
Born in a family of doctors. He studied at the I Moscow Medical Institute. I.M.Sechenov , who graduated in medical business in 1967, also graduated from clinical residency at the Moscow City Institute of Emergency Medicine. Sklifosovsky specializing in Traumatology and Orthopedics in 1969.
During his studies, he worked in ambulance, in 1971 he defended his thesis. In 1972 he entered the IBMP, where he headed the department and laboratory, and, as indicated on the website of the IBMP, was a leading specialist of the institute in the field of medical assistance to crew members of manned space flights.
Since 1998, he headed the work in the field of space telemedicine. Member of the Main Medical Commission of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Defense of Russia for the examination of astronauts.
