Joaquin Diaz Dominguez – a Chief of Surgery and Digestive Diseases at Hospital Universitario La Paz, and Professor at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), Hospital Universitario La Paz & Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), Madrid, Spain – passed away on 19 April 2020 after suffering from COVID-19. Dominguez was 64 years.
He received the Doctorate Award from the López Sánchez Foundation, granted by the Royal Academy of Medicine and is the author of several publications and the book "History of Biliary Surgery in Spain".
After learning the news, his colleagues from the hospital gathered at the gates of the center to pay tribute to a doctor "with a long history and loved by all," as indicated by the Minister of Health
