Betty Marlene Cruz Yagual – an Obstetrician at Centro de Salud Santiago de Guayaquil, Guayaquil, Ecuador – passed away on 10 April 2020 after suffering from COVID-19. Betty was 61 years old.
Her love for her profession led her to obtain a Master's degree in Public Health. She had a 29-year history in this sector, between the Santiago de Guayaquil Health Centers, number 13 and El Cisne 2.
Betty Cruz's family and friends remember her as a cheerful and supportive woman, who enjoyed her obstetric profession and the relationship with her patients.
On April 7, she entered the Los Ceibos hospital of the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute (IESS) with respiratory symptoms and three days later she died at 61 years of age.
