Gaily Catalla – a Nurse at Maidstone, Kent, England – passed away on 13 April 2020, after suffering from COVID-19. Gaily was 64 years old.
Gaily Catalla lived in Maidstone after moving to the UK from the Philippines, according to the Nursing Notes website. He was described as a "fierce frontliner" by the Our Lady of Fatima University in the Philippines, which he graduated from in 1981.
"In the face of the crisis, he continued to compassionately care for his patients," the tribute continues.
"Amid the sorrow and pain, love also poured for the fallen hero. Family and dear friends shared on social media how special Gaily or 'Daddy Gil' was to them— his absence will surely leave a huge void.
"A parental figure to many, he was remembered for his kindness, generosity, and wisdom."
A tribute has also been posted on Facebook by Julia Catalla, who says: "Goodbye daddy Gaily, thank you so much for all the fun, laughter and all your help to all of us.
