Adriana Midori Takara, Student

An accounting student in her 30s died after contracting the Covid-19 that has infected over 1.95 million lakh people across the world, so far, and killed more than 4.18 million.

Adriana Midori Takara, 38, had no underlying health conditions but the Brazilian national’s condition deteriorated quickly after contracting the Delta strain.

She died in the early hours of Sunday at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney’s inner west, about 10 days after contracting the virus.

Fernanda Ferreira Batista, who established the GoFundMe to help cover the cost of Takara’s funeral and of returning her body to Brazil, described her friend as more than a mere number.

“Adriana is not a number, she was a woman with dreams and wishes,” Batista wrote.

At 9.36pm on Monday the fundraiser had garnered $21,266 in donations from more than 650 people.

Two more Sydney residents – both aged in their 80s – died with Covid-19 on Monday, taking the death toll of NSW’s Delta outbreak to 10.
