Ghida Kambash, an Iraqi lawmaker, died on July 10, 2020, after contracting the novel coronavirus She was the first Parliament member to succumb to the virus in the country. The 46-year-old was a three-time MP from Baquba, northeast of Baghdad, and helped pass laws on education reform and social welfare. She leaves behind four children. Ahmed Radhi Amaiesh Al-Salehi ‑ an Iraqi footballer who played as a forward – succumbed to Covid-19 on 21 June 2020.
