He was still in office when he died on 21 April, as the parliamentary election's second round had not yet concluded.

Dr Simon Hercules died on April 20 On April 20, Dr Simon Hercules, a neurosurgeon who was treating coronavirus patients in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, died after contracting the disease. Far from getting a proper burial, his family and friends were beaten up while trying to do so. Dr Hercules' friends and family were attacked on Sunday night when they took his body to a burial ground in Chennai (formerly Madras).
