Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie aka Sir John ‑ a Ghanaian lawyer and politician – died from Covid-19 on July 1, 2020. He held several political positions including serving as general secretary of the New Patriotic Party. He was serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Forestry Commission of Ghana before his demise. Kojo Afriyie was born in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He attended Seventh Day Adventist Secondary School in Bekwai from where he obtained his GCE Ordinary level certificate. Mad Sophia Addo, Nurse Mad Sophia Addo,  54, a Nurse at Ghana Manganese Company Hospital in Western Region of Ghana, passed away due to COVID-19 on May 8, 2020. The statement signed by the regional secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives’ Association stated, “Madam Sophia reported sick on the 6th of May 2020 and returned home after treatment. She returned the following day with worsening health condition and started exhibiting signs of COVID-19…Samples were taken and before the result came, she passed away on the night of 8th May 2020. However, the result came out positive for COVID-19.” The deceased is said to have had underlying health conditions including asthma and hypertension. Jacob Plange-Rhule  –a Ghanaian physician, academic, and Rector of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons – died  on 10 April 2020 due to Covid-19.   At the time of his death, Plange-Rhule was the Head of the Department of Physiology of the School of Medical Sciences in Kumasi, Ghana.   He was also a consulting physician at the Department of Medicine of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, where he founded the Hypertension and Renal Clinic and headed it for more than two decades.   Plange-Rhule was born on 27 July 1957, in Winneba, Central Region, Ghana.
