Gastão Dias Júnior – a Physician, Paediatrics at Hospital da Unimed, BalneárioCamboriú, Brazil – passed away on 22 April, 2020, after suffering from COVID-19. Gastao was 51 years old.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The cause of death was coronavirus, informed the municipal administration, the unit management and the Regional Council of Medicine (CRM-SC). The case has not yet been confirmed by the state government as being due to the infection.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The doctor was hospitalized on March 29 and transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) the next day, and his only risk factor was overweight, said the director of the hospital, Mário Gonçalves Silva.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In Balneário Camboriú, the pediatrician worked at the Municipal Hospital Ruth Cardoso. He also worked in Itapema<\/strong><\/a> and Itajaí<\/strong><\/a> , and was a professor of medicine at the University of Vale do Itajaí (Univali).<\/p>\r\n\r\n
