Lorna Breen \u2013 an Emergency Department Medical Director at  NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital, New York City (suicide) \u2013 passed away on 26 April 2020 due to COVID-19. Lorna was 49 years old.<\/p>\n

Dr. Lorna M. Breen, the medical director of the emergency department at NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital, died in Charlottesville, Va., where she was staying with family, her father said in an interview.<\/p>\n

Tyler Hawn, a spokesman for the Charlottesville Police Department, said in an email that officers on Sunday responded to a call seeking medical assistance.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe victim was taken to U.V.A. Hospital for treatment, but later succumbed to self-inflicted injuries,\u201d Mr. Hawn said.<\/p>\n

Dr. Breen\u2019s father, Dr. Philip C. Breen, said she had described devastating scenes of the toll the coronavirus took on patients.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe tried to do her job, and it killed her,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
