Sonia Abdel-Azim Aref – a General Medicine specialist in Egypt – passed away due to COVID-19. Sonia was 64 years old. It was reported on April 12, 2020.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The police had to stop 23 people and fire tear gas on the others so that the Ministry of Health could bury the doctor.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The crowd gathered in front of the ambulance, which transported the doctor's body for burial in a cemetery owned by her husband in the village of Shubra El-Bahou.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In front of the intransigence of the people, the ambulance headed towards the nearby village of Mit al-Amil to bury the woman in her hometown, but the scene itself was repeated after the people there objected to her burial.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The ambulance returned to Shubra al-Bahou village, where it was able to bury the medical after the police intervened.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

While the governor of Dakahlia decided to give the name of the deceased doctor, Sonia Abdel Azim, to a school in her village, in honor of her fighting the Corona virus during her work and laying down her life.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
