{"id":1903,"date":"2020-04-21T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-04-21T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/personmatters.com\/Remembering_Covid_19_Victims\/?p=1903"},"modified":"2020-06-12T15:21:43","modified_gmt":"2020-06-12T15:21:43","slug":"manjeet-singh-riyat-emergency-medicine-consultant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/personmatters.com\/Remembering_Covid_19_Victims\/?p=1903","title":{"rendered":"Manjeet Singh Riyat, emergency medicine consultant"},"content":{"rendered":" <figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img src=\"http:\/\/personmatters.com\/Remembering_Covid_19_Victims\/wp-content\/uploads\/imageholder\/uploads\/Manjeet_Singh_Riyat.jfif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-750\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n <p>Manjeet Singh Riyat   a British emergency care consultant   died, aged 52, at the hospital where he worked, on 20 April 2020.\r<\/p><p>Riyat is described as the first person of Sikh heritage to hold such a role in the United Kingdom.\r<\/p><p>\r<\/p><p>After education at the University of Leicester, qualifying in 1992, and training at Leicester Royal Infirmary and Lincoln County Hospital, he joined Royal Derby Hospital as a consultant in emergency medicine, in 2003. He rose to be head of the emergency department there in 2006, and was chair of the hospital&#8217;s medical advisory committee and its medical staffing committee.\r<\/p><p>\r<\/p><p>Riyat taught emergency medicine at Derby College. He served as an examiner for the Royal College of Emergency Medicine from 2007, becoming lead examiner for their fellowship examinations in 2016.\r<\/p><p>\r<\/p><p>He was also a clinical research fellow in academic emergency medicine and co-authored a number of papers, in venues including the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine.\r<\/p><p><\/p><p><\/p>\n \n \n<p><a href=\"\"><\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Manjeet Singh Riyat a British emergency care consultant died, aged 52, at the hospital where he worked, on 20 April 2020.
