Dr. Li Wenliang, 34, a Chinese physician recognized as the whistleblower in Wuhan, died on February 7, 2020, shortly after an interview from his hospital bed. The death of a Chinese doctor who tried to warn about the coronavirus outbreak had sparked widespread public anger and grief in China.\n<\/p>\n

Li Wenliang died after contracting the virus while treating patients in Wuhan. Last December he had sent a message to fellow medics warning of a virus he thought looked like Sars \u00e2\u20ac\u201c another deadly coronavirus.\n<\/p>\n

But he was told by police to \u201cstop making false comments\u201d and was investigated for \u201cspreading rumours\u201d.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think he was rumour-mongering. Hasn\u2019t this turned into reality now?\u201d his father, Li Shuying, told the BBC. \u201cMy son was wonderful.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

According to Chinese site Pear Video, Dr Li\u2019s wife is due to give in June.\n<\/p>\n
