Mahesh Sharma, a politician from the Indian state of Gujarat, died of Covid-19 on July 19, 2020.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Sharma, who was vice-president of BJP’s Vadodara unit, passed away at a private hospital.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

He was undergoing treatment after having tested positive for Covid-19 last week.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Sharma, in his mid 50s, was a member of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) before he joined the BJP over two decades ago.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Senior party leaders remembered Sharma for his dedication to the party’s internal affairs.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

“He was an extremely committed leader. He never contested elections but was always in the forefront of all activities undertaken by the party. When I was the general secretary of the Yuva Morcha, he was the vice-president of the organisation. We have worked very closely,” said veteran party leader Rakesh Patel.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Sharma is survived by his wife, daughter, son and daughter-in-law. Patel said that Sharma’s family is asymptomatic and under quarantine.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
