{"id":10576,"date":"2020-07-17T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-07-17T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/personmatters.com\/Remembering_Covid_19_Victims\/?p=10576"},"modified":"2020-07-17T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2020-07-17T00:00:00","slug":"","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/personmatters.com\/Remembering_Covid_19_Victims\/?p=10576","title":{"rendered":"Maxx Cheng, teenager"},"content":{"rendered":" <figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/personmatters.com\/Remembering_Covid_19_Victims\/wp-content\/uploads\/imageholder\/uploads\/Maxx_Cheng.jpg?w=810\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-750\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n <p><p>Maxx Cheng \u2011 a 13-year-old Claremont boy from who had been isolating in his room after experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, died on July 16, 2020.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>&ldquo;He had this, like, dream of wanting to go to the Olympics,&rdquo; Charlotte Cheng, Maxx&rsquo;s sister, said.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Quarantined inside her home, Cheng said her younger brother began to feel sick on the Fourth of July.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>&ldquo;Nausea, vomiting, chest pains,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;That list that pops up, a little bit, on that initial search, he had all of those symptoms.&rdquo;<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>On July 9, Maxx&rsquo;s mother took him to get tested for COVID-19. That test came back negative.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>&ldquo;His symptoms matched, but then the test came out negative,&rdquo; Cheng said. &ldquo;So we were a little bit confused.&rdquo;<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Despite the test result, Maxx continued to isolate in his bedroom due to his ongoing symptoms.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>&ldquo;We went to go check up on him, like we normally do,&rdquo; Cheng said. &ldquo;He wasn&rsquo;t answering. We found him passed out in the room.&rdquo;<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Maxx died on the night of July 16, 2020, after days of seeming improvement over the past week.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>&ldquo;There was almost no cough,&rdquo; Cheng said. &ldquo;The fever had gone down three days before he passed.&rdquo;<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>&ldquo;Somebody who is athletic, somebody who is on the swimming team who is so energetic and active dies from it, it changes the conversation,&rdquo; Nichole Weinstein, a family friend said.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>The Cheng family said they had been very careful, even before Maxx got sick, so they didn&rsquo;t know where he could have contracted the illness.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/losangeles.cbslocal.com\/2020\/07\/17\/claremont-13-year-old-dies-after-experiencing-covid-19-symptoms\/\">CBS Los Angeles<\/a><\/p>\r\n<\/p><p><\/p>\n \n \n<p><a href=\"\"><\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maxx Cheng \u2011 a 13-year-old Claremont boy from who had been isolating in his room after experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, died on July 16, 2020. &ldquo;He had this, like, dream of wanting to go to the Olympics,&rdquo; Charlotte Cheng, Maxx&rsquo;s sister, said.
