Jerman was born in Seaboard, North Carolina in 1929, the son of a farm worker. He dropped out of school at the age of 12 to work on a farm. In 1955, he moved to Washington, D.C. and worked as a caterer before being hired as a cleaner by the White House in 1957 during the administration of Dwight D. Eisenhower. Jerman was promoted to butler under John F. Kennedy, and continued in that role until his retirement in 1993 during the Bill Clinton administration. Phil Murphy announced Tuesday that Dr. James Wilson died Monday night due to complications from the virus. Hamish Wilson – a Scottish actor from Glasgow – succumbed to Covid-19 on 26 March 2020.   He was best known for briefly taking over the role of Jamie McCrimmon for part of two episodes in the 1968 Doctor Who serial "The Mind Robber" when series regular Frazer Hines was ill with chickenpox and unable to attend the recording.   The change of actor was written in as part of the story when Jamie is turned into a cardboard cut-out and has his face removed by the Master of the Land of Fiction.
