Vandana Mishra, chairperson of women’s wing in the local chapter of the Indian Industries Association, died of Covid-19 complications while being stuck in traffic in Kanpur on June 25. She was 50.
The incident occurred when the local police set up many diversions across the city for movement of President Ram Nath Kovind’s convoy.
Mishra had complained of nausea and vomiting and was going to a private hospital when she got stuck in traffic between the Nand Lal intersection and Govindpuri fly.
An ADCP level officer would be investigating this incident, Kanpur Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) B B G T S Murthy stated even as the Kanpur Police Commissionerate apologized on Twitter for the death of Mishra.
