Syed Munawar Hasan ‑ a Pakistani politician and the former Ameer (President) of Jamaat-e-Islami political party – died on 26 June 2020 from coronavirus complications. He served as a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan in 1977. He died on 26 June 2020 after prolonged illness. Munawar Hasan was born in Delhi, British India on 5 August 1941. At the time of the partition of India, he migrated with his family and settled in Karachi. He obtained a Master's degree in sociology in 1963, and in Islamic Studies in 1966 from the University of Karachi. Munawar Hasan joined the National Students Federation, a student group, and was elected its president in 1959. Madeline Kripke was born on September 9, 1943, in New London, Connecticut, to mother Dorothy Karp Kripke and father Myer S. Kripke, a rabbi. Kripke's brother was philosopher Saul Kripke, and her sister was Netta Kripke Stern. She graduated with a bachelor's in English from Barnard College. In fifth grade, she recalled receiving a Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary from her parents, which she said "unlocked the world for me".
