David John Reed, murder convict

David John Reed ‑ a death-row inmate who was convicted in Riverside County of first-degree murder ‑ died from apparent coronavirus complications on July 7, 2020. David John Reed, 60, had been on California's death row since 2011 and was imprisoned at San Quentin State Prison where a COVID-19 outbreak is ongoing. Reed died outside hospital, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. An exact cause of death has not yet been determined, although the CDCR reported Reed died "from what appear to be complications related to COVID-19." Reed was sentenced to death in October 2011 for the murder of Ricky Mosley in a racially motivated attack near a Palm Springs restaurant. Patch.com

Joel M. Reed ‑ an American film director, producer and screenwriter ‑ died on April 12, 2020, aged 86, in a care facility in New York City after contracting COVID-19.   Reed is best known for directing the controversial Blood Sucking Freaks  (1976), a notorious horror comedy that was the subject of protests upon its initial release and has since achieved cult status.   Reed also directed the films Career Bed (1968), Sex by Advertisement (1969), The G.I.
