Antônio César Ferreira Pitta Jesus – a Nurse Technician at Hospital Santo Antônio, Salvador, Brazil – passed away on 22 April 2020, after suffering from COVID-19. Antonio was 48 years old.
Antônio César had been a blood bank employee at Hospital Santo Antônio since 2012 and, according to the hospital, had no direct contact with inpatients because of Covid-19. The professional was diabetic, but he was only removed from work on April 15, when he developed fever and cough, the first symptoms of the new coronavirus.
