Poovachal Khader, lyricist

Malayalam cinema lost one of its most prolific lyricists in the death of Poovachal Khader, who succumbed to COVID-19 in Thiruvananthapuram on June 22. The 72-year-old songwriter had been under treatment for COVID-19 at the Govt. Medical College. Khader, during his five-decade career, wrote more than a thousand songs for over 350 films, while being credited for some of the biggest-ever hits in Malayalam film music. Burton "Bud" David Rose an American nephrologist and the creator of the UpToDate medical software application died on April 24, 2020, due to complications of COVID-19. Rose was a clinical professor of medicine at Harvard University. He also held positions at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He was co-author of Clinical Physiology of Acid-Base and Electrolyte Disorders; Pathophysiology of Renal Disease; and Renal Pathophysiology: The Essentials. Aldir Blanc Mendes, author and lyricist

Aldir Blanc Mendes a Brazilian author of crônicas and lyricist died of complications of COVID-19 on 4 May 2020 at the age of 73. He co-composed many songs with singer-songwriter João Bosco, guitarist Guinga, and others. A trained psychiatrist, eventually he quit medical practice and devoted all his time to music. Elis Regina recorded several of his songs, most notably "O bêbado e a equilibrista". Another song of his is "Resposta ao tempo" (with lyrics by Cristovão Bastos), a ballad that became one of Nana Caymmi's most famous songs, and which was recorded by many other musicians thereafter, amongst them Milton Nascimento and Aldir Blanc himself. Mother-of-three Aimee O’Rourke was described as an “angel” who would “wear her NHS crown forever” after losing her life to coronavirus. The 39-year-old nurse died where she worked, at the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital (QEQM) in Margate, Kent. Her daughter, Megan Murphy, described her as an “angel”. Rourke joined the QEQM’s Acute Medical Unit as a newly qualified nurse in 2017.
