Celia Lardizabal Marcos – a Registered Nurse at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, Los Angeles, California – passed away on 17 April 2020, after suffering from COVID-19. Celia was 61 years old. Due to the shortage of personal protective equipment, Celia only had a surgical mask, rather than an N95 mask, according to her son. The hospital said they lost a vital member of their team and they will continue to provide staff with appropriate levels of personal protective equipment that’s required with existing guidelines by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Celia Yap Banago – a Registered Nurse at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri – passed away on 21 April, 2020, due to COVID-19. Celia was 65 years old. Celia Yap Banago, a registered nurse who had worked at Research Medical Center for more than 40 years, died after caring for a COVID-19 patient, according to the National Nurses United union. “It’s horrible to find out that she didn’t make it,” says Charlene Carter, a registered nurse who worked at Research with Banago for seven years.
