Vicente André Gomes a Brazilian politician and physician with a specialization in cardiology from the state of Pernambuco died on May 8, 2020, at the age of 68 after almost 3 weeks of hospitalization due to complications brought on by COVID-19. Son of Geanny and Moacyr André Gomes. Gomes went to medical school at the Fundação de Ensino Superior de Pernambuco, graduated in 1978 and later finished his specialization in Cardiology at the Federal University of Pernambuco. Amit Kumar, a 32-year-old Delhi Police constable, died on May 5, 2020, hours after developing the symptoms of COVID-19. At least two government hospitals refused to admit him, his colleague alleged. This was the first death in Delhi Police with respect to the COVID-19 pandemic, reported The Hindu. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North West) Vijayanta Arya reportedly said constable Amit Kumar was posted at Bharat Nagar police station.
