John Prine, singer-songwriter

John Prine, an American country folk singer-songwriter, passed away on April 7, 2020 due to Covid-19. He was active as a composer, recording artist, and live performer from the early 1970s until his death and was known for an often humorous style of original music that has elements of protest and social commentary. Born and raised in Maywood, Illinois, Prine learned to play the guitar at the age of 14. He attended classes at Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music. After serving in West Germany with the U.S. Army, he returned to Chicago in the late 1960s, where he worked as a mailman, writing and singing songs first as a hobby, and then becoming a club performer. John Percy Leon Lewis - a Guyanan military officer - died on 7 April, 2020 due to COVID-19. Lewis had also been president of the Guyana Rugby Football Union. He is believed to have been Guyana's sixth coronavirus victim, dying a few days after his wife Juliet Lewis who died on March 27 from pneumonia. Sir John Grant McKenzie Laws ‑ a Lord Justice of Appeal – succumbed to Covid-19 virus on 5 April 2020. He served from 1999 to 2016. He was the Goodhart Visiting Professor of Legal Science at the University of Cambridge, and an Honorary Fellow of Robinson College, Cambridge. Laws was born on 10 May 1945, the son of Dr Frederic Laws and his wife Dr Margaret Ross, née McKenzie, the daughter of the Congregational minister and academic John Grant McKenzie. John Cofrancesco, 52, an administrator at Family of Caring at Montclair who dedicated his life to serving the elderly, died due to complications with Covid-19 on March 19. The American College of HealthCare Administrators, of which Cofrancesco was a member, confirmed that Cofrancesco’s death was due to Covid-19. “Rest in peace, John.
