Denise Millet, illustrator & comic book artist

Denise Millet –a French illustrator and comic book artist – died from Covid-19 on 28 March 2020. She worked with her husband, Claude Millet.   The works of Claude and Denise Millet spanned from 1976 to 2019 and included nearly 200 titles. The pair collaborated with Bayard Presse, and designed the comic strip Pic et Pik, written by Stéphanie Janicot. They also drew a biographical comic of Martin Luther King, Jr., written by Benoît Marchon.   Besides comics, Millet worked in advertising, communication, and cinema. Daniel Azulay –a Brazilian visual artist, comic book artist, and educator, with vast and diverse performance in the press and on TV as a draftsman – died of Covid-19 on March 27, 2020.   He is most known for the children's franchise Turma do Lambe-Lambe. He died due to complications brought on by COVID-19.   Azulay was born in Rio de Janeiro and raised in Ipanema. Paul Karslake ‑ a British artist, primarily a painter ‑ died on 23 March 2020 of sudden onset pneumonia, which was caused by COVID-19.   Karslake was born in Basildon, Essex. He studied at SEEVIC College and Southend College of Art and Technology and started working with his father, Michael Karslake, an architectural model-maker working on such projects as Centre Point and the Thames Barrier.   In the early 1970s Karslake was tutored by Sir Peter Scott; towards the end of that decade he met Salvador Dalí during a trip to Spain. Nashom Wooden –an American performing artist – died due to Covid-19 on March 23, 2020.   Wooden was a member of the electronic dance music band The Ones and performed as a drag queen under the stage name Mona Foot.   Wooden was raised in Brooklyn, New York, and entered the New York nightlife scene as a Club Kid in the mid-1980s. By 1989, he worked in Manhattan running the men's clothing department at Patricia Field's boutique while developing the drag queen persona Mona Foot with his friend and former roommate Lady Bunny. Wooden credits RuPaul as an early mentor; RuPaul taught Wooden how to apply makeup, and both appeared in an off-Broadway play titled My Pet Homo.
