He graduated in University of Bari, majoring in agricultural science.   He had been a professor at the University of Milan, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Piacenza, Institut national agronomique de Tunisie  (INAT) of Tunis, and the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
